Kyra Cowan: Artist and Scientist
Kyra Cowan was born in Nova Scotia, Canada, and currently lives and works in Frankfurt, Germany. She grew up with her family moving and adapting to living in many parts of North America and Europe. She is an artist and scientist and lived in the San Francisco Bay area for several years as her career evolved. She now lives in Germany, where she balances her work as an artist with her work involved in the discovery and development of medications for patients, driven to focus on, understand, and interpret the fragility of the human condition.
With her life’s work built on a sensitivity to each personality she encounters, through her career and extensive travels, Cowan is mostly drawn to presenting figurative work, exploring what features evoke both strength and vulnerability. Cowan captures this in her oeuvre, painting as much as she can to show her perspective on the intimacies and sensitivities of human emotion through evocative pieces.
